Republicans James Inhofe Lies About “Overheard” Conversation with Clinton, Boxer
Link: Shocker. You mean the senate’s leading global warming denier just pulled something out of his ass, sent it over talk radio and had it filtered throughout the blogs and Fox News? Simply astounding.

Actually, I’d have a much more positive view of Demorcats if that converstaion did take place.
Potato Salad,
Can you note that the whole thing is hearsay? The fact that Fox peddled this tripe as “news” speaks more toward OW’s point about the right wing noise machine.
Of course, you take it at face value and conclude that Inhofe must be telling the truth, right, tater?
I think Larry the Cable guy is on TV; go play.
I am thinking. I’m thinking about a Senator (who thinks the frikkin’ Weather Channel is a threat to national security) who may or may not have overheard off-the cuff, off-the-record remarks by fellow members of Congress and without the faintest shred of evidence as to
a)whether said conversation actually took place or
b) whether such “legislation” is in the works,
goes on the radio and says Liberal Democrats are a threat to conservative talk radio.
And I’m thinking that both “subjects” of this conversation deny that any such discussion took place, so I’m thinking the story ends there.
And I’m thinking that Inhofe is off his nut.
And I don’t think that just being contrarian necessarily raises the discourse.
I’ll say anything if it fits my agenda.
Angry? I’m not angry, dude. I’ referring to your posts in other threads. You come across as one of the “nuh-uhs” around these here parts.
game, set, match – checkmate.
Uhhh, what?
Perhaps if Inhofe didn’t have a track record of making stuff up, it would be reasonable to say there are two sides to the issue. Not every Republican senator is a serial liar. That said, Inhofe has a record and he’s far less believable than Sens. Clinton and Boxer.
Potato Salad !!! = James M Sheehan
Shall we provide your email address, too, so people can contact you directly?
But your not taking sides, right?
A US Senator (albeit one you may not like) tells a reporter what he heard on an important topic of the day. This is legitimate to report by a journalist.
Legitimate? In what universe?
If Inhofe says he overheard a conversation about intended legislation and the people he claims were having the conversation both deny it, then that’s not journalism, it’s rumor-mongering.
And when the rumor reinforces the prejudices of the Fox News audience, it’s partisan rumor-mongering.
Let us also not forget, Inhofe wasn’t talking to a journalist; he was talking to a radio talk show shill, i mean host.
Wasn’t it just last week when participants in a conversation with Harry Reid swore up and down that Democratic from Nevada never called anyone “imcompetent” only to be proven embarrassingly wrong the next day? Let’s get all the facts in before we automatically jump to conclusions, lest Oliver have to post another correction. (Oh wait. He never posted a correction on the first item. So much for intellectual consistency…)
Ok, Farris, score one for your team.
Yay!!!
One rumor about Dems turned out to be true, so anything at all said about anyone is fair.
Did I say that? I think it makes it even.
Oops, didn’t know that was you Q
Here is an update from Jake Tapper:
AFTERNOON UPDATE: Even though Inhofe prefaced this story by saying “I was going over to vote the other day,” the Oklahoman this afternoon told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto that this alleged conversation took place “about three years ago.”
I’d say the good Senator’s credibility is withering…
Potato Salad: “Be less angry.”
Be less stupid.
Seriously. It’s like you are trying to out-dumb Frank.
(In fact, when you first showed up, I almost assumed you were Frank.)
“I’d say the good Senator’s credibility is withering…”
You’re being unduly kind Eric, in your usage of “tense”–i.e., your opting for “ing” in lieu of “ed”.
If you took Joe Isuzu, Clifford Irving and William Westmoreland, and attached them all to a credibility-sucking machine (like, and EIB control room board) and drained what little remained in them away–they’d still have more left than Jimmy Inhofe.
Doesn’t it depend on what your definition of ‘Is’ is?
Hillary and Senator Boxer speaking like that off the record is scary. I am sick to death of people accusing the Bush junta of suppression of free speech when something like the Fairness Doctrine is in the works simply because the market demands it, and it doesn’t matter which side supports it.
“Hillary and Senator Boxer speaking like that off the record is scary.”
Except we have no credible evidence that they were.
Here is a picture of Sen. Inhofe’s eavesdropping: http://thumbsnap.com/v/Mm1Q5d9X.jpg
Isnt it amazing, that not more than a day after this was heard ,and of course Clinton and Boxer denied it. The next thing oout of Boxers Pie-Hole was trying to bring back the Fairness Doctrine.mmmm Who do we listen to now…
Well the Left has Air America.
