Donald Rumsfeld, the worst defense secretary in US history, has risen out of his crypt and is advising the creation of a propaganda ministry for the government. From the guy who oversaw torture at Abu Ghraib, what could possibly go wrong?

Why? Has Roger Ailes been falling down on the job?

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Paul Wolfowitz, an architect of the Iraq war who was forced to resign from the World Bank because of an ethics scandal, will chair a U.S. advisory panel on arms control, the State Department said on Thursday.

The former deputy secretary of defense and advocate of the 2003 U.S.-led invasion of Iraq will head the State Department’s International Security Advisory Board, which gives the department independent advice on arms control, disarmament, international security and other matters. According to Rumsfeld, the United States is losing the war of ideas in the Muslim world, and the answer to that, in part, is through the creation of this new government agency.

Or, just maybe, not invading them at the drop of a hat.

Just another example of Bush et al’s complete inability to learn or consider anything different than what they already know. They seem to have this fixed group of people and can’t conceive of looking beyond that small circle.

Like the only tools you have are a hammer and screwdriver. When you need to tighten a bolt, don’t see if there is such a thing as a wrench. Just reach for your hammer, or screwdriver.

Sounds like Rumsfeld is stealing ideas from George Lakoff.

  6. Farris, I think you mean Joseph Goebbels.

  7. Sounds like Rumsfeld is stealing ideas from George Lakoff.

Yes because when one hears about a propaganda ministry, they think immediately of a Berkley professor as opposed to, say, the Nazis or the Soviet Union.

Only a wingnut twit like SF could pull that one out of his stupid ass. I’m shocked you didn’t work the Soros cliche in there somehow.

  8. “Only a wingnut twit like SF could pull that one out of his stupid ass.”

And they wonder why we insult them.

  9. “No we don’t… if logic escapes you, fall back on what you know.”

Ha ha ha. That’s funny in a pathetic sort of way.

I told you to come back when you can debate, so you should probably leave again.

All good Republican’ts know you just can’t have enough propaganda ministries. Especially when you have so much that needs catapulting…

  11. Wow, Matt, that’s a lot of writing to, once again, contribute absolutely nothing.

For the record, I don’t think any of the GOP echo chamber wonder why they get thrashed when they speak up. Caring would imply that they have some intention of letting the sun shine on their blacked hearts and might be open to evolving their world view to let a little reality and compassion seep in. No way you’re getting that from the 30% brigade.

I just wonder what pathological defect in their lonely lives makes them keep coming back.

As for Rumsfeld, he had a big hand in pushing toxic Aspartame to market and gave us the classic “go to war with the army you have” bit. He’s a natural. Hired!

  12. matt, why do you hate America?

Matt621 says he’s a “better man” here for “real debate,” but apparently got so distracted dreaming up vomit imagery that he forgot to follow through on either promise. Better luck next time, Matt!

  14. avatar Nimrod Gently says:

That’s an epic post alright. Here’s the rebuttal: lick me. Thank you.

  15. Matt: “2. As Carl Sagan said when responding in detail to the obvious lunacy in Velikovsky’s WORLDS IN COLLISION thesis, doing so ‘sharpens the mind for useful work.’”

This only works if you are capable of debating. Claiming the housing bubble collapsing was the result of the minimum wage increase shows you are not. Debating you would weaken my skills.

And there’s the difference between you and me. I can take on your argument and insult you at the same time. You can not. You have no way of dealing with my argument, so you concentrate on the insults and the language. This is called the Style over Substance fallacy and it not logically invalid.

  16. Damn, Matt, haven’t seen invective like that since The Princess Bride.

  17. avatar Dr. Victor Davis Handjob says:

Hey Matt: here’s something to roll around in your brain when you’re not busy crafting the next great American rancid horse piss metaphor:

Who do you want to see take the lead role in setting policy for the country: George W. Bush or the Congress?

    President George W. Bush: 21%
    The Congress: 62%
