A few nights ago, I was out canvassing for Obama, and I got to this one apartment complex where a couple of guys were drinking some 40s, and one of them asked: “Hey! Who are you?” So, I proudly displayed my Obama T-shirt and replied, “I’m here with the Obama campaign.” “Get away from here, I’m not votin’ for no sand-n*****!” he replied. Yes, this took place in Durango, Colorado, a town on the way to the middle of nowhere that constantly votes blue. Then in Albuquerque (we get all our TV from there), the local news has reported that spray-painted swastikas have begun to appear on Obama yard signs. I’ve been doing my damnedest not to play the race card here, but apparently, the McCain/Palin camp already has.
