Blunt, Roy (R-MO) $72,800
Ryan, Paul (R-WI) $69,000
Tanner, John (D-TN) $68,500
It's incredible that John McCain, supposedly a 'Maverick' received so much money from the industry and never heard a whisper from the main stream press during the election campaign. And it's even more amazing that any of the above are being taken seriously when it comes to serious reform of the health care industry. A political system that allows such overt corruption and conflict of interest simply cannot be sustainable. Politicians are supposed to represent people, not corporate interests. The enormous sums of money the health care industry throws at them means their roles as an elected representatives are no different to sales people. Except sales people are honest about their motives.
