President Bush's Last Speech - As Bad as his Presidency

George Bush's final speech to the American public was in essence, a pathetic attempt to rewrite his catastrophic record. With the familiar simplistic language and brazen confidence used throughout his tenure, Bush attempted to defend the undefendable, going through the litany of almighty cock ups with his own delusional take on events. Words like "Good vs Evil", "Freedom", "Democracy", "9/11" featured heavily in the speech, littering his thesis that the neoconservative project has been a roaring success.

Grinning his way through the speech, Bush's complete disregard for the massive damage he has caused was on full display:

I just got back from the Oliver Stone George Bush biopic "W", and must confess to being completely blown away. I had read numerous reviews of the film, most of which were lukewarm or fairly scathing, so was not expecting much. But Stone's subtle, yet terrifying portrayal of the current President is a must see for anyone vaguely interested in politics. Josh Brolin's performance is certainly worthy of an Oscar, and his mastery of Bush's body language and speech pattern is remarkable. It is worth seeing the film for that alone.

The picture itself is essentially a psychological insight into Bush's character rather than an indictment of his politics (although Stone is clearly no fan). It is perhaps the most devastating portrayal of his presidency yet.

Bush is still an idiot

It's comforting to know that amidst all the turmoil George W. Bush is still hard at work screwing everything up and then taking credit for it.  According to the NYT, Bush "said that if it (the economic meltdown) was going to happen at all, he was glad it was happening under his presidency, because he had a good group of people in D.C. working for him."  I'm not even going to attempt to describe how much is wrong with that statement, other than to say that unlike Sarah Palin's, I can understand Bush's B.S.

But W. still hasn't learned a thing.

Quote Of The Century

CNN's Jack Cafferty sums up George Bush and John McCain so perfectly, it should be engraved in gold and placed outside the White House front doors:

"George Bush's record as a student, military man, businessman and leader of the free world is one of constant failure. And the part that troubles me most is he seems content with himself. He will leave office with the country $10 trillion in debt, fighting two wars, our international reputation in shambles, our government cloaked in secrecy and suspicion that his entire presidency has been a litany of broken laws and promises, our citizens' faith in our own country ripped to shreds. Yet Bush goes bumbling along, grinning and spewing moronic one-liners, as though nobody understands what a colossal failure he has been. I fear to the depth of my being that John McCain is just like him."

Really? This guy is still in charge (and he isn't drunk)

When you see a picture like this, it makes me less angry at Bush and more angry at anyone who voted for this clown-child moron (the look on his daughter's face says it all).  It would be a lot funnier if less peoples lives had been ruined.

The passage of the FISA bill that provides illegal retroactive immunity to lawbreakers begins to reveal the true depth of the problems American citizens are facing (or should I say ignoring?).

If George W. Bush and his supporters believe that Islamic terrorists hate us for our freedoms, and Bush and his supporters cherish our freedoms, then why are Americans being stripped of our freedoms and protections? In essence, Bush and this congress have surrendered to the terrorists by willingly eroding the core principles upon which our nation has existed for over 200 years.

When George W. Bush launched his war in Iraq he did so with a definite religious fervor.  Like all religious wars, his Iraq invasion was based on lies and, therefore, required a significant level of blind faith from his supporters.  In recent days Scott McClellan’s new book, What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception, has received significant attention for merely verifying what most, if not all, previously knew; Bush’s public case for war was entirely based on dishonesty and lies.  As one might expect, Bush’s supporters continue to support him with the same religious fervor and blind faith as was required of them in the run up to war.

Seymour Hersh: Bush 'an unguided missile'

This is perhaps the best description of George Bush I've ever read. When asked by Matt Taibbi whether the Bush Administration could be compared to the Nixon administration, Seymour Hersh answered:

Oh, my God. Much worse. Bush is a true radical. He believes very avidly in executive power. And he also believes that he's doing the right thing. I think he's a revolutionary, a Trotsky. He's a believer in permanent revolution. So therefore he's very dangerous, because he's an unguided missile, he's a rocket with no ability to be educated.

George W Bush sucks...

Though I didn't think it possible, on the same day as his approval rating hit a new low, 19% (wow, thats really low...I mean 25% of this country is evangelical....whoa! and his disapproval is 77% too...he really sucks at this job) he also reached new heights of stupidity. In remarks made after visiting the Rwandan genocide museum he came to the brilliant conclusion that      

"outside forces that tend to divide people up inside their country are unbelievably counterproductive.  In other words, people came from other countries — I guess you’d call them colonialists — and they pitted one group of people against another."

Wow...thats like so profound..if there were only some situation in which that logic could like, ya know... be applied...

And in other shocking news it turns out the military commissions at Gitmo have been rigged all along.
This was grand inquisitor William J. Haynes thought on fair trials:

"Wait a minute, we can't have acquittals. If we've been holding these guys for so long, how can we explain letting them get off? We can't have acquittals, we've got to have convictions.'"

These guys are the ones who should be put under arrest...none of these so-called terrorists scares me half as much as the neocons
